The tach in my 86 SPG is no longer functioning. I sometimes get a small (100-200 rpm) bounce for an instant when I start the car sometimes get a bounce up to 4k or 5k when I shut off the ignition. Is there any specific fault tracing I can be doing here? The Bentley is no help and I can't seem to find any matching issues in the Saabnet archives.
The car starts and drives great and I don't have any other electrical problems. Is it possible the tach itself is toast? Or is it more common for this to be a wiring problem?
