My 900s interferes with garage door opener signal Posted by Arabiflora [Email] (#1129) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Arabiflora) on Thu, 31 May 2018 18:10:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's the strangest thing... Some may recall that my 1989 900s stalled while on the road during a heavy downpour. The consensus here (and common sense) was that the ignition system was decrepit and ought to be refreashed. So I replaced plug wires with new bougicords and bought other Bosch components (cap, rotor) and NGK 5030 (SKU BCP7ES) pugs. The car runs fine and maybe a bit better than before, but now I have a recurrent and puzzling "issue": If I pull into the driveway and stop just before the garage door and then push the opener button, nothing happens. If I push the same button from the end of the driveway (maybe 30' further away), all is good and if I shut the car off and push that same button-- voila, the door goes up.
I presume it's an electrical interference issue and am tempted to blame the plugs. "Back in the day" one needed to buy "suppressor" plugs to stop or limit ignition system crackle through the 8-track stereo. It's merely an annoyance and a curiosity at this point, but am I on the right track?
