Dont confuse the diagnostic test (measure resisance) with the actual fault code. The fault code indicates the thing the main valve does isn't happening; the test is check the coil for the main valve. While a main valve problem could be a coil problem, it could also be an obstruction, low fluid, a damaged valve, or something else.... things you couldn't readily test for. Adding a resistor will make your diagnostic test happy, but probably won't cure the problem. Unless you have specific knowledge of the valve block, ECM, and software, I'm not sure I would run such an experiment on my brakes. Replacing the ECM is one valid approach, but so is replacing the thing registering the fault - the valve block.
