My '86 had similar problems.
The A/C one sounds like the idler pulley on the tensioner. The bearings tend to go. You can replace the pulley with one that's readily available, probably from anywhere - no need for a specialist parts house.
The low/variable idle after starting but not in the winter, that for me was a vacuum leak. Mine was through the brake booster. I just replaced the booster push rod seal. You can feel around and probably find the leak if this is the problem. Otherwise if you're SURE there are no vac leaks you could try replacing the air mass meter. Look for one on Evilbay. I guess you could have some low pressure in the fuel rail (possible bad check valve) and a weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter, but that would cause more symptoms, like long cranking before start and lousy acceleration at wide-open throttle. Does the idle hunt up and down and try to stall? Or does it just stumble and rev really low?
