Hello everyone- The car is 86 900 Turbo. The problem started with a dimmer Instrument and radio lights, and battery warning light off. When I raised Rpm to 1900-2000 the lights came back alive except for the battery warning light. Sorry for a long posts.
I researched the previous posts on this issue so I did the following hoping it will solve the problem:
Installed new Bosch VR (old brushes so worn out), Cleaned/sanded battery cables including negative terminal at transmission, grounds at the alternator, at the chassis near radiator and at the top near manifold. Also added new grounds at the alternator and continuity checked all grounds. Installed new green base bulb(tested ok before install), checked fuse #7 ok, and new relay E installed.
I did a voltage reading when:
Engine off, Ignition on not running, and Running/Idle.
Battery 12.7V, 12.4V, 12.2V(after I raised rpm to 2000 14.4V)
Starter 12.7V, 12,4V, 12.2V(after I raised rpm to 2000 14.4V)
Alternator B+ 12.7V, 12.4V, 12.2V(after I raised rpm to 2000 14.4V)
Alternator D+ 2.2MV, 2.2MV, 12.2V(after I raised rpm to 2000 14.4V)
It might be obvious that the Green/Wht wire or Excite Wire. or Field wire (same wire) is not able to excite the Alternator D+ terminal. Continuity test was ok from the tip of terminal D+ spade to about an inch above where the wire was crimped. Further tracing needed.
Before I start tracing this wire further, I welcome and appreciate any suggestions. I already took out the knee bolster and I could see the Black, Red and White 29 pin bulkhead connector attached inside the driver side fender.
The problem is I don't know which bulkhead connector and pin# this green/wht wire passes thru. Please help identify which of the three colored bulkhead connector and pin# this green/wht wire passes thru. Thanks,Roland.
