I’ll be honest, I have been a Saab fan boy since 1990, when I was three years old. I was brought home from th hospital in my father’s ‘85 900 Turbo sedan and my mother took me to preschool in her ‘84 900S. When I left for college and grad school, I did so in my ‘03 9-5 Arc wagon.
Now, three years of living back in Brooklyn and working as an architect, I want to relive the glory of the yuppy 1980s and get ahold of a C900.
Does anyone here have any advice for a first time (perspective) buyer of a classic 900 (preferably of the Turbo variant)? What is it like to use one as a daily driver? Is it reliable? How much should I expect to factor for repair and maintenance costs? How many people on the street will high-five me for driving such beautiful automotive history? What contingencies should I expect?
Any advice/criticism/words of encouragement/snotty remarks/leads are greatly appreciated.
