I am assuming you mean the bolt that holds the tensioner bracket to the block, right (not the diamond shaped casting)? If you are installing the bolt, why not pull it back out and see if the threads are stripped?
New bushings are definitely worth doing btw if yours are old! Made a huge difference on my car.
To get better access while doing an alternator job, I move the compressor out of the way, but don't bother with the cooling hoses. They are a nuisance and it is not impossible to crack plastic connections at the firewall, so really it is a good idea to remove them, but I haven't. Getting the alternator in/out is a bit of a tight squeeze but doable.
