Enormously frustrating alarm/mobiliser problem!
Posted by alanb (# 722) (more from alanb) on Tue, 23 May 2006 15:44:32

I set off for work this morning and found that the blipper would not open the doors. I tried the spare blipper and still the doors wouldn't open. I changed their batteries, with no luck.

Obviously on opening the door with the key, the alarm went off.

I've now spent half the day trying to sort this problem out and it's defeated me. At the end of the day, I don't care about the alarm or immobiliser; I just want the car running

Just for your info:
1. It's a MY1995 9000 Aero
2. It doesn't have VSS (I think) but the part no. for the alarm module is only one number away from the VSS ones i.e. 4550116 rather than 4550117 and I've never seen anyone refer to this number module anywhere else.
3. I've tried all of the 'tricks' to disarm the thing (e.g. the 'three key turns and open the boot' routine and this http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/faq/alarms.html )
4. Tried taking off the battery lead and the relevant fuse

The red alarm light seems to flash once every two seconds regardless of what I do.

Any suggestions about how to bypass the system? I've read that you can jump pins 1 and 9 (or 1 and 21?) on the alarm ECU but the descriptions of the wire colors don't correspond to what I have. I have one thick white wire (pin 1) and the rest are black (with dashes of other colors on them).

Please help before the lump-hammer comes out!

Alanb
