rebuilt motor...no idle,rough running

she starts and runs! although it doesnt idle, and only runs if you hold your foot on the gas...and the cel is on.

but im past the nervous as hell part of turning the key the first time, and fiding out it does run, just needs some fine tuning.

im just worried about the chain tensioner being dead. i was running an open downpipe, so it was hard to hear for sure if the chain was rattling or not.

so at this point i think its either that, or the the timings off.

any input on how to straighten this out?
