Great writeup - thanks! Not clear though if your airbags "self-deployed" or were the result of a crash - please explain. Note that the 95+ cars have a different SRS ECU which contains the crash sensor, so the problematic cables/connectors are eliminated.
I have been fighting this same SRS lamp battle for years, have thoroughly cleared all connectors with CRC QD Electronics cleaner, removed and cleaned the mounting surface, etc. If I could find a weatherproof version of the connectors in question, I would like to make a new three-wire cable for the run from the front left sensor to the SRS ECU - so far I found that the connectors for the crash sensors are listed on a Volvo Marine Engine site (should be weatherproof!), but I haven't found where to get the pins for the big connector to the SRS ECU. I plan to solder the connectors to the wires, not just crimp them, for a more reliable connection.
