Or maybe Saab quietly corrected an error. Ford did that IMHO with the 4.6L V8, though of course never admitted it. Some of the '99-'04 Mustangs have this engine. The '99-'01 manuals specify 5 quarts. Then in '02-'04 they went to 6 quarts. Same engine, oil pan and dipstick tube. Only the manual and dipstick were changed. Why? The theory is that under certain rpm and g-force conditions running with 5 quarts resulted in engines starved for oil and rod bearing damage. My wife's sedately driven '01 stang has 6 quarts, and I have cheap peace of mind. Posts in this Thread:
