Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor?

Not sure what year your car is, but if it's a pre-1996 are you getting any "flash codes" of the check engine light immediately after start up? A bad coolant temp sensor will tell the engine that it is in warm-up mode constantly, causing it to use more fuel.
