Prep for a rear hatch transplant

My rear deck proves to be too rusty to save, especially since I have access to a same-paint replacement that is clean. Not having done this, and trying to prepare for doing it away from home, I'm looking for any procedures, or any input from someone who has done this before. I read that the electrical connectors are back under the headliner. Is it just the three bolts on each hinge, and the struts? Do I need a helper ? ( weight, etc. ) Is there a right way to re-hang and adjust the new one when I get it home?
