They're absolutely removable, held onto the plastic by some of that vinyl-rubber foam adhesive tape that will come with a new badge if you still have a Saab dealer and want to pay the high price, near $60 last I recall.

They have two little legs that on the 9000 only go into two recesses to help locate the thing, rotation-wise. But it's the sticky foam tape that holds it in.

Get something behind it and pry it out - - maybe a putty knife.

The ones on my cars seem to only be held by the foam tape on the bottom third of the arc, gravity pulls them down and away and the upper tape is not adhered and covered with road dust. So it's easier to pry old ones out than you'd expect.

Little I have seen of the imitation ones doesn't fully impress me, they aren't the same blue and they lack some of the finer detail of the originals.
