I don't know whether the bulb test uses the same circuit as the signal from the brake fluid reservoir's cap. You might try removing the cap, holding it where the little float hangs all the way down, then turning the key to the run position. The brake fluid light should turn on when you do this.
For the most part I don't believe in coincidence. The fact that I don't see how things are connected does not mean that no connection exists. Recently I had an indy replace my front seal and the o-ring on the oil pump cover to stop an oil leak near the crank pulley. It worked. The strange thing is that the oil leak at the front corner of the engine on the driver's side (this is a very commonly reported leak) has stopped. This looks like a coincidence to me, but to someone else who understands the lubrication system better these happy events might be clearly connected.
My '96 CS an automatic, so I have no experience with clutch issues. The good news is that it's hard to encounter any problem with a 9000 that hasn't already been discussed in detail. The search can be tedious, but also rewarding with info you weren't seeking but might need some day.
