There's far less advice on the V6s on this site, and almost everyone disses them, or did, when these cars were more common.
But if it's clean, well maintained and running well, you might go ahead if the price were right. Even super clean and low miles, with good tires and exhaust, I would only be happy paying maybe half what they're asking. Offer $700 and stop there, go reluctantly a little higher. Have it in cash in your pocket at time of offer.
The auto trannies are more or less the same on the 4s or V6s, but won't swap. They are much stronger than the C900 autos but do sometimes fail late in life; make sure the car seems to shift fine before you buy.
If something breaks you'll either have to be doing it yourself or else the thing will prove a money pit. Better to take it to a scrapyard and get maybe $350-$400 for the weight than to spend on it money you won't get back, if anything serious goes wrong.
