Hello,
As others have said the v-6 has a bad reputation. Find out when the timing belt was replaced last. It should have been updated years ago and they seem to go 60,000 miles just fine not 30k like before the updates. It should have had 3 free timing belts done at the dealer at 35k, 65k, and 95k. And it would have been recommended still for every 30k so if it had one done around 125k you should be golden for awhile. The water pump should have been replaced by now also. Overall it is pretty good engine. I would offer less than the 1500 and would probably avoid it if the last timing belt was changed at 95k because it would be due. The transmission lasted a bit better than in the 4 cyl due to less torque but find out if it has had regular fluid changes. Overall it is a 9k and good car to drive. Good Luck, Bernie at George Riggin Specialty Automotive
