In the above message, I pointed out that BOSCH replaced the battery TWICE for FREE over two independent three year episodes.
The volume of these batteries is irrelevant. The 41 is current production. The real issue is the BOSCH algorithm for the voltage regulator. BOSCH has screamed at auto manufacturers for years that lead-acid batteries should not be charged at voltages above 13.8; auto manufacturers insist on running their engine computers and sensors in a range of 14.2 to 14.5 volts, which is why the plates are often exhausted/ have excessive deposits after three years. A very good case was made twenty years ago to raise the electrical standards for autos to a twenty-four volt platform, halving the current requirements for starting. The battery manufacturers fought this effort. They WANT to sell you a crappy battery every three years, if not sooner. It's more profitable.
At this point, I am not impressed with any of the current battery products; I have the luxury of BOSCH swallowing a battery every three years until they give me A GOOD one.
