First, you should know that a pretty standard "E" clip sold at any hardware store will work; I think the post is 6mm and a 1/4" e-clip will pop right into the same groove.
Second, it's the same clip used: On C900 hatch struts, top and bottom as I recall; and on C900 manual clutch clevis pins, up on the clutch pedal shaft. They can be removed with the bare fingers, by separating the spring clip at its mouth, then pushing it off. May also be used on the 9000 hatch struts; I can't remember but think so.
A third option, put a washer on there and then wrap some thin wire, paper-clip wire, or something softer and easily bent, like florist's wire (craft store, anyone?) around and around the shaft just at the point where the slot is so the wire goes down into the slot and then wraps around the post enough to hold the washer on. This is a temporary fix but should hold the strut on long enough for you to visit a friendly Saab indy or a junkyard.
