Some of the 1991 - 1993 cars came with a lower timing gear that was not hardened properly and the teeth wore out - causing "failure of the timing chain" which was actually due to the gear.
If maintained properly, some people never replace the timing chain. On my old Classic 900, I drove it to about 300,000 MILES (not kilometers) without doing anything to the timing chain.
Did you wind up buying that white 1994 9000 CS?
