I don't think you're going to learn anything measuring the heater circuit or the o2 sensor directly. The code indicates that it's working well enough - but not fast enough. If this is to be believed, it would be because the o2 sensor is either old or fouled. Personally, I'd say its worth the $80 for a new one every couple decades.
This sort of code could also be caused falsely by oxygen leaking into the exhaust at certain times, and leaks upstream of the turbo, especially broken exhaust studs, are not uncommon.
The plugs for both o2 sensors are under the intake manifold, between the alternator and the dipstick tube. they may or may not be attached to the bracket still. The front o2 sensor wiring dives under the a/c compressor, and is clipped to a water pipe under the belts, popping out near the upper motor mount, and dropping back behind the alternator.
