Rear brake caliper question Posted by sam96CS [Email] (#852) [Profile/Gallery] (more from sam96CS) on Wed, 5 Nov 2014 16:25:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Just bought two re-manufactured rear calipers from AutoZone. Before installing I checked the e-brake adjusters since this is the most failure-prone feature of these calipers.
No problem with the driver side caliper except that the plug over the adjuster wouldn't tighten, solved by swapping the plug from the other rebuilt caliper.
On the passenger side the adjuster will move the piston in but it won't retract the piston. I've read that the adjusters can be tricky. Is there anything I should be doing other than merely turning the adjuster counter-clockwise? Turn around 3 times and sprinkle pixie dust?
My old calipers are the original ATE parts at about 212,000 miles. I know to keep the original slide pins. What about the retaining spring and bleeder screws? My originals are in good shape and aren't rusted.
