1995 CSE engine light (blink code 5) Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Thu, 6 Nov 2014 12:42:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Suddenly the "check engine light" came on in our 1995 CSE (no TCS). The blink code is 5 (well, one long and 5 short), which apparently indicates a problem with the throttle position sensor.
However, upon opening the hood I discovered the small PCV hose fitting on the engine had broken off, so I replaced the fitting, hose, and valve thinking that might be the cause.
After doing this the check engine light is still on. Is there a way to test the throttle position sensor before shelling out for a new one? (I didn't find anything definitive searching here.) Obviously the error codes are much more limited on this car than on an OBD-II vehicle, what else should I be checking?
