CEL, P0130, P0133 Posted by ELaw [Email] (#699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ELaw) on Mon, 10 Nov 2014 10:10:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
All,
So I've got the infamous CEL + P0130 and P0133 codes thing going on... is there any new wisdom on this?
Yes my car does have the JT 3" downpipe but it's been on there for years and this problem has only started recently. Well sort of...
The downpipe was installed around 2001. All was well until 2009 when I got a CEL and P0130 code (and probably the P0133 too, I don't remember). At that time I installed a new front O2 sensor... the one in the car was original @ about 110K miles.
Then all was well until a few months ago and the problem came back. It wasn't just a fluke as I reset the codes multiple times and they kept coming back. Finally I replaced the front O2 sensor again even though the car had gone only ~15K miles since 2009. The CEL stayed out for a few trips then came back on.
I replaced the ECU with a spare I had and it was the same deal... CEL off for a few trips then it's back on again.
When I replaced the sensor and ECU I looked at the connectors and didn't see any corrosion or anything. The engine runs absolutely perfectly, and every time I've used diagnostic software to look at the front O2 sensor voltage (I've done this several times) it's happily bouncing between about 0.1 and 0.8 volts.
Does anyone have suggestions on what I should try next?
I will say the JT downpipe is getting a little old and the flex appears to be leaking a little, so it's possible some air is getting drawn in there. However I've looked at both short-term and long-term fuel trims and both appear okay.
Oh and I forgot to mention: car is a '97 with the B234R engine.
Edit: I just ran some diag software and see that now the long term fuel trim is 28%... which sounds high to me but some Googling indicates numbers like that are fairly common. And it's not throwing any fuel-trim-related codes, just the P0130 and P0133.
