Stupid headlights! Posted by skibumm100 [Email] (#3255) [Profile/Gallery] (more from skibumm100) on Mon, 24 Nov 2014 07:57:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I own and drive (2) '97 9000's. Of course, that means I have twice as many headlight problems as most guys on this forum.
Currently:
97 CSE: Typical intermitant headlight problems with high beams not working.....usually red relay related. Currently a low priority item. Now the DS low beam works while the PS low beam is dim. Switch to high beams and the DS is bright but the PS is out. Sounds like a possible ground issue to me. On top of that, the lights sometime stay on when you shut the car off. You have to turn the key on then back off to get them to turn off. The headlight switch does nothing. I have no idea what this one might be. I can see a dead battery coming.... I have switched the orange relay and the red relay with a new KAE red relay. Didn't make a difference. That's all I was willing to try last night as it was pitch dark once I got the RF fender reinstalled (old one was rotten) and got the tensioner and belt put back together.
97 Aero: The low beams only work when the headlight switch is turned "off" or in "parking lamp only" position. If you turn it to the headlights "on" position, both low beams go out. Of course the high beams don't work now either. It has a new KAE red relay and has been working well for a couple weeks, until now.
I am getting so sick and tired of the lights not working correctly. It's always some new failure mode.
I will have the Aero in my garage for a couple of days to attack the A-pillar rust while I have the windshield out. Might have to spend some time with the meter and figure out what's going on. Suggestions welcome.
