It's been several years since I did this, but IIRC it's not that bad. You disconnect the strut from the steering member, swing the whole works to get the tripod bearing out of the inner driver, remove the bolts that attach the flange to the transmission, then pull the driver and flange out as a unit. It might be a little stubborn. Be sure to save any shims, they set the preload.
At that point you can check everything out on the bench. If you've had vibration on acceleration check the cup for depressions where the tripod bearings contact it.
