I used a '93 Aero. There must be a certain number of years after which NADA classifies it as a classic or something, because the descriptions on their site spoke in terms of classics in the valuations.
I agree with you, though, that a manual (especially Aeros and the '98 CSE) command much more than the automatics (I wouldn't even consider an auto 9000, unless I needed to pick up a car... I'd pay a couple grand for a perfect one, but I'd pay much more for a manual.) Again, this shows how used car pricing resources miss the mark (a lot) when considering unique, rare, and somewhat sought-after cars.
Let's face it, some of us here are crazy about our cars (because they really are uniquely suited to do what they do), but the general public thinks... "For $5K, I'd buy a used Accord!"
That being said, when it comes time to sell a nice 9000, you aren't selling it to the public. You're selling it to some other 9000 nut, and you'll get much more than "market value." However, the very definition of market value is the amount of money that one person is willing to purchase your car for. You can't sell it to the guy who wants an Accord as well as someone like me who will gladly spend $5K on a car that has yet to have a worthy replacement in the market.
Cheers,
Peter
