But as for performance. My current boot has a inch long slice on the underside of it letting all the boost out. having a split boot dosent really make a noise if it dose I sure haven't heard it. I didn't even know mine had such a huge slice. I blamed the poor boost on bad spark plugs and the super low idle as computer adaptation. All turbo systems carry some oil through out the intake pipes (thankfully) and I saw a oil spray under the boot onto the motor directly below it. Thinking on how the oil spray could have got there only one thing could have happend. I felt the bottom of the boot and there it was.
Having an inch slice was hardly noticeable my boost dropped from 20psi to -10 unable to get off base boost and could easily point to other things as the problem. But your problem I wouldn't look at the boot but more to the by pass valve or even a vacuum hose leak. If your hearing hissing it's probably under the dash where the vacuum line hooks up to your boost gauge. But having a whine sound while under full boost.. I'd suspect turbo bearings.
I won't have the blue boot untill 2weeks or so I'll post back as of its fitting
