Those are perfect conditions for scraping a knuckle or for breaking part B while attempting to replace part A. That is if you're clumsy like me.
A day or 2 before I would soak the base of the old sensor with PB Blaster (or use WD40 or Liquid Wrench or whatever you prefer). Maybe tap the sensor with a wrench or hammer to help the liquid penetrate.
I'd do the job with the front end raised on ramps to avoid excessive bending over. Get plenty of light on the subject you can see clearly.
Get a wrench that fits snugly. Maybe several that fit, each with different amounts of offset.
If you can get it started by hand, then good for you. Work gloves might save your skin if the wrench suddenly turns or slips.
If you're not able to start it by hand then you might alternatively hold the wrench to the sensor base with one hand while tapping the end of the wrench with a metal hammer to get it started. Aim carefully, hit only what you intend to hit. Not necessary to hit hard, just persist at it.
Swear as needed.
I don't know how much coolant will leak. Probably not much if you have the new sensor at hand and start screwing it in as soon as you're removed the old sensor.
