There is enough variation in wrenches that sometimes two are better than one. I have two nearly identical 13 mm wrenches I use to snug the copper nuts where the downpipe attaches to the turbo. Turn with wrench A, then wrench B, then wrench A again and so forth. Easier with both wrenches than it would be with only the one or the other.
Hadn't thought about a deep socket. Pictures I saw of the sensor part show it with wires, so no splicing should be needed.
I would try it without removing anything. If something makes it impossible to do the job, then you know what you need to move out of the way.
I wish someone would jump in who has replaced this sensor before. Chances are it isn't difficult if you have the right tools and approach it the right way.
