Here is a more complete account:
1. Fan did not turn on, causing overheat.
2. Fuses 2,3,4 are all fine.
3. When jumped from the relays, the high speed worked, but the low speed did not.
4. Replaced the fan resistor (0.22 ohm, 50 watts, bought from Mouser).
5. Replaced the radiator (the overheat caused a leak, should have ordered a coolant reservoir cap too; but missed it).
6. Did not replace the coolant temperature sensor (because the site sponsor suggested and sent the wrong one. They sent the one without wires, which goes between cylinders 2 and 3. I need the one with wires that is located at the end of cylinder head above the transmission. This sensor connects to the EDU).
7. Put everything in and disconnected the coolant temperature sensor from the EDU to do the test suggested by sam96CS. The fan runs continuously even after shutting down the engine.
8. The gas gauge works. The coolant temperature gauge fluctuates between 8:45 and 8:55, even though the true engine temperature was going straight up.
9. Exchanged for the correct sensor.
Trust that the above covered my overheat issues without omissions.
This community is soooooo great.
Will post my experience on R&R the sensor. The space is cluttered by a bunch of plumbing. Will try RayF's suggestion of cutting a slot from a closed wrench.
Cheers
