If you keep the amp and use a HU with line-level outputs you have the option of using a harness like the below link. You will have to move some of the wires around, but that can be done with the help of a small screwdriver

I recently tried this approach with my HK system using the saabsite faq as a guide. Although the total length of wire increased, I like the fact that I can go back to the old setup. I am OK with the result. In fact I think it sounds clearer than before

If you are not using the amp, the harness is a little less helpful, especially since you will need to run new speaker wire
