Best Car Audio Grounding?

I took the plunge and got a new Nakamichi NA250BTR HU. Out came the OE HU, in-dash single-disc CD player and CD changer from the trunk.
I soldered RCA plugs on to the OE Nokia amp input wires (at the now-gone pink connector) to take direct advantage of the 5V line-level outputs for better sound (the Scoche line output converter reduced dynamic range considerably - I ditched that blue turd). All connections are soldered/shrink sleeved.
I'm having trouble getting a good ground; I'm experiencing low-level ground loop noise with the engine running. The HU is grounded through both the Saab audio wiring harness and chassis-to-lower-dash frame. Without one (ether) of the grounds connected, the noise is significantly louder, so I'm pretty sure it's a grounding issue. Is the dash frame the best ground available? I saw a lot of plastic in there. I keep thinking I'm missing something...
Any of you auto-audiophiles have advice?
