Hi Noel. I had to replace the front O2 sensor on one of my 97's over the winter. It came out fairly easily. I didn't use an O2 sensor socket. I broke it free with an open end and eventually just cut the wires at the sensor because I knew it was bad and I got tired of trying to keep the wiring harness from getting all twisted up. I had to go slower installing the new one because I didn't want to damage the wiring. The car won't pass inspection unless all of your sensors are "ready" and you have no codes so make sure you can drive it around a while before you're due.
