If it's OBD2 can't you clear it with a cheap reader? I swapped the exhaust from my 96 (now my parts car) into my 98. I used to get that code a lot on the 96 and cleared it because AFAIK the only thing it does is verify that it's there in a cat. Now I get the code on my 98. That O2 sensor is seized in. I have replacement sensor but haven't had a chance to swap it in. If you clear the code it's good for 5 to 200 miles YMMV.
