I have spent the last 6 days doing in depth diagnostics, and here's the latest:
The injectors work fine, I have verified pulse using a test light, and can smell lots of gas at the tailpipe after cranking tests.
The DI cassette does the shower of sparks at the end, but I can't
figure out a good way to see if it is sparking otherwise. The sparks are barely visible from behind the wheel through the windshield on top of the engine when I am turning the key. I had to jump out of the seat and run to the engine just to see the spark shower after I shut the key off. Is it possible for a DI cassette to do the shower of sparks cleaning cycle yet not fire otherwise? Is there a way to use multiple test lights safely to see if the cylinders are firing while I am cranking? I tested all 4 of the spark signal wires from the ECU to the DI and they had continuity. Pins 6 and 10 are hot and grounded respectively..tested perfect. Could one of the other wires leading to the DI have busted, resulting in the ECU not wanting to send ignition pulses down to the DI? I swapped in a spare DI and there was no change, but it was old used spare that worked when removed... it could have gone bad I guess. I have 3 days over the holiday weekend before I can order another DI to swap in as my last ditch effort before I give up. Any thoughts would be appreciated, as this otherwise is going to be a long, lonely, stranded holiday weekend waiting to order another DI that I really don't think is going to help. I would rather know there is something I can test and fix.
