I took the fuel pump out first, thinking that was the culprit because it was over 100k miles - so I saw plenty of gas then.
I took the valve cover off to check for a lost timing chain first thing,
because it sounded weird. It was there and tight, so I figured that wasn't it. I turned the crank around to TDC this morning, and found that the chain had slipped on the exhaust cam!
The engine only has 4000 miles since the tensioner was replaced.. I am
about to take out the tensioner and check it out, other than that maybe I have a cupped tooth on my exhaust camshaft gear.
Either way, I sure hope this thing starts back up and has enough juice and life to get out of here and back to my shop so I can stick another engine in here. Atleast the intake cam stayed put, even slightly bent intake valves would be fatal.
When the rain lets up in Cheyenne Wyo I will find out what she sounds like.
