I know that is an expensive part, but it is a wear part.
Think about all the trouble you are going through right now.
The clutch slave is one of the most difficult things to replace in the 9000.
If you ever have to tear the vehicle down that far to get to something, all
wear items removed should be replaced with new, quality parts.
The ONLY exception is if you are trying to get rid of the car as fast as possible for as cheap as possible. Clutch slaves fail due to crud accumulating in them because people don't flush their hydraulic fluid as often as they should. I can understand why no one would want to go through bleeding the clutch on the 9000 - with my power bleeder I have to do it a dozen different times to get it perfect. So I wait for a week when I don't have to go anywhere with the saab to do my bleeding every couple years. Most people do not. As a consequence, the odds that the one you are pulling is worth reusing is not very good.
If you really don't have the money and this is your only choice, so be it.
But I would never do what you are doing.. I do a lot of work on my saab,
but to do what you are doing I would literally pull the engine out of my car with a hoist and break the engine apart from the trans. While I was there, I would make sure my steering rack is okay, and if my drive axles had wobble I would replace the inner drivers, diff bearing and related.
While the engine is out make sure all seals (especially the oil pan, since it isn't accessible with the engine mounted) are good, and renew the mounts and shift coupler. I'd also put in a new clutch kit. Just because I am going to take over a day to get this job done right, and I really don't want a job that significant again any time soon - it requires a LOT of clean work area to get done.
Getting the trans out of your car is one thing, putting it back in properly with the engine still in the car is another. If you don't have the right shop tools and can't afford them you may want to ask around to your mechanic friends and find some to borrow for a weekend.
You are really cutting corners, please don't hurt yourself.
