So I noticed that the rear fog light didn't come on while working with bulbs the other day. And then later I noticed that the reverse light didn't come on when shifted into reverse either. Did some resistance measuring and found nothing good. Pulled the panel expecting to find a wire pinched and found instead that the DPO had run a wire from the rear fog light to the reverse light and taken out the rear fog light bulb. It seems as though they couldn't figure out how to get the reverse light to go on to pass inspection so they jury rigged a wire to the reverse light so that they could use the fog light switch to turn on the reverse light. After more hours of reading about reverse light failure modes I read one comment that said, "No, there won't be a relay that's only for automatics. Fuse 9 is the one that powers the revers light." So out I went to find fuse 9 in perfect condition… but fuse 16 powers THE REVERSE LIGHT RELAY! I checked it and the fuse came out in 3 pieces.
This is why I am concerned about electrical things not working on this car, it may not be simple to diagnose.
