I also went through several sets of ball joints on my previous 9000, and I make a point not to buy cheap parts. Worst of the bunch was Moog, which lasted about a year. When I removed them I discovered that there was absolutely NO lubricant inside. Perhaps this was an anomaly, as Moog is typically one of the better brands for suspension parts.
I'm pretty sure that the originals were made by TRW. If you look on ebay you can find some sellers who claim that they are selling TRW-brand parts, but you may want to verify that. Perhaps you can still buy the SAAB-branded parts you cited?
