Clutch non-fitting annoyance Posted by ELaw [Email] (#699) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ELaw) on Tue, 21 Jul 2015 12:27:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey... does anyone know for sure 1) what size the clutch disc/pp are on a '97 Aero and 2) whether all late 9000 flywheels are the same?
I ordered a flywheel from a "1994 9000" (engine not specified) to go with a new clutch on my car (the '97 Aero). And I ordered a clutch kit - a Luk 21-021 which multiple sources say is correct for my car.
And... they don't fit together. The disc is clearly too large diameter (240mm - it looks like the flywheel wants a 228mm disc) and the pressure plate is too.
So I'm trying to figure out whether it's the flywheel or clutch kit that's wrong. I know the obvious answer is to look at the FW that's in the car, but I'm trying to minimize the time the car is on jack stands blocking the garage so I haven't taken it apart yet.
Does anyone know what's going on here? Everything I see online says all 9000 flywheels from '94 to '98 are the same but I'm wondering if in reality there's a difference between LPT and FPT or 6-cylinder vs. 4-cylinder.
