Ahhhh...., now I think I am beginning to understand this
So, seems like if one wishes to remove the TCS completely, that is only the first step. Seems as if the engine will run fine with all necessary bits in place, albeit with the Traction Control lamp illuminated.
But the braking system is where the paths diverge:
option 1: do as many have done and leave in place the Mark IV system with an electrically operated pump as sole power for rear brakes. Also leaves the weakness of the Accumulator, or pressure switch, or motor, or relay failing from time to time.
option 2: as Simon S. outlines above, source lines from a non-TCS car in order to install an entire vacuum assist system originally supplied on non-TCS model. No warning lights on instrument panel. ABS functional.
option 3: Some gent in the UK hybridized a system using vacuum/master cylinder and two 3-way splitters to direct hydraulic pressure to calipers. Sans ABS pump, etc. Simpler, lighter, downside is NO ABS FUNCTIONALITY. (see link, pages 2 and 3 for photos)
