Suggest Cobalt Drill Bits, drill guide, plenty of lube Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sun, 23 Aug 2015 11:39:59 In Reply to: Will have angle drill and helicoils on hand ;-) nm, AdamB [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 23 Aug 2015 05:34:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When I removed the two broken studs on my previous 9000, I made a drill guide from a brass plumbing adapter - as I recall it was something like barbed hose end on one side and 1/8" NPT pipe thread on the other.
Cobalt drill bits work better on the hardened studs than titanium - which are a lot better than most others.
Also note that I replaced the long studs and spacers with normal short studs; as I recall Anders (Swedecar) said that this is what he does.
