My own experience with the Sanden has been that they are very reliable. I'm surprised you've had trouble with them.
I've owned quite a few cars over the years equipped with these and never had any problems. Currently I have 3 cars with their original Sanden compressors, 2 of which are 30 years old, and they still work very well. My '97 9000 CSE's original Sanden was still working fine with over 300,000 miles on it but I replaced it when overhauling the entire AC system "just in case."
I have no experience with the Seiko compressor so can't comment on that one.
