Rear calipers and rebuilding

Hi all,
After my latest repair (water pump, thermostat and serp belt), my $750 Aero* has decided it's time for the emergency brake to cease functioning. This is after a few years of meaning to address the rears, with one side of the e-brake already seized but the other providing adequate force.
So, question is: once the adjusting screw stops working -- i.e., turn it and the piston doesn't budge, or try to turn it and you can't -- is it no longer possible to rebuild the rears?
Over the course of 25 Saabs, I've had good luck with the reman units from eEuro. But others have had uneven luck with them and have sworn by rebuilding the existing units. Current price on the eEuro rears is double what I remember paying, thanks time time and the rareness of these cars nowadays I'm sure. So I wonder if I should consider rebuilding my own or just bite the bullet and see how replacements work out.
What do you all think?
* 750 purchase price 3 years ago. I've paid for tires, all 4 rotors and pads**, a cat back exhaust, battery, and a few other things. So maybe $2500 all in at this point. But I'm still calling it a $750 Aero for dramatic effect!
** Paid for rotors and pads but only installed the fronts so far due to the one non-functioning retractor screw in the rear
