Just like you've experienced the O-ring was split. It's now all back together again with new O-ring and seal. The oil pressure sensor is working fine, but I guess it'd be too late anyway if the pressure got low enough to trigger it?
Incidentally it was interesting how big a difference the oil made with regards to how fast it was leaking. I had to drive about 250 kms before I could fix the car. Normally I use fully synth 5W-40, but bought some 10W-40 dino oil instead of wasting the expensive synth. At first it leaked about 1 liter every 50 kms, but then as more and mroe synth was replaced with dino oil, the leak got smaller. At the end it only leaked about 200 mls every 50 kms with 100% dino oil...
