I can get it as close as about 1/4" on the front of car side. Firewall side is still 1" out. I'm wondering where the release bearing should be sitting before assembly. I mean it's on the input shaft but it doesn't have anything to keep the spring compressed and the bearing seems like it could get hung up fitting over that last notch of the shaft. This is the same bearing, spring and slave with less than 5k miles on it. I'm swapping the tranny, clutch, etc from my wrecked '98 9000 to a '97 9000
Here's what all I've tried in case something jumps out that I'm doing wrong. I've taken the midshaft loose and refit all of that first and it's all the way in. I can see where the transmission is stopping while there's still room to move there. I'm guessing I've stabbed the input shaft since it will go so far on the car front side. I've tried turning the flywheel, and turning the wheel to spin the midshaft spline. I'm pretty sure the trans was in neutral. I'm stumped. I've exhausted myself on multiple days trying to get this thing stabbed. It's not my first transmission job but it's my first on a 9000 and I'm beginning to wonder if I can do it. Thanks in advance.
