First a quick tip: you'll probably get better responses if you post on the 9000 board!
Have you checked for fault codes? That's the first step, and might (or might not) point you in the right direction.
Otherwise if the problem is greater with the engine hot I'd probably lean toward the crank sensor, as they're known to be temperature-sensitive. On the other hand, DI failures come in many forms so that can't be ruled out either.
The fuel check valve seems unlikely to me... even if it's failed, the pump will usually build pressure pretty quickly.
