After reading 1st line of your post again I think you should consider replacing the blower motor. I think the additional drag on the blower motor will continue to over current the connector & controller.
My motor became slow spinning up but I think it was less than a week. I ordered motor(Bosch - looks like eEuro only has Proparts now unless get the one with fan assy which is a lot more $) & heater core (nissens) since I was going in there. My motor armature was worn out ~1/8-1/4 grooves - I said to myself this is a wear item. Turns out heater core had minor leak that sealed up with as antifreeze dried but obviously I replaced. I fought trying to get the assembly out and then removed the upper heater core hose at the splice and was able to move it over that extra inch and the Assy basically came right out. Note on a '93 the large electrical connecter is below the false bulk head, not sure where it is on a '94 but saw a 9000 in junkyard where it went through false bulkhead, Noel awhile ago mentioned he had to do something with that large electrical connector when working on his car.
