Battery dies when hot Posted by inca99 [Email] (#1862) [Profile/Gallery] (more from inca99) on Mon, 14 Mar 2016 12:39:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I put a new battery in about 6 months ago to correct my low voltage issue, which did not fix. Next was a new voltage regulator which shot me back up to 12.6 volts (on the dash - i know the accuracy is questionable there...) and then no starting or charging issues throughout limited winter use. As the weather has gotten warmer and I'm using the A/C more, my temp gauge usually registers above normal so that after parking, the cooling fans run for a long time. When I return and try to restart, the battery is so far depleted, it will not crank long enough for it to turn over before it runs out of charge.
So I'm wondering if the problem is simply to replace with a cooler thermostat to allow for less elec. fan battery use, or if there are other issues to dig into like the alternator is going? I would think it would throw a battery light or the volts would read low if this were the case. Any help appreciated here.
